About BCDC

||
The San Francisco Bay Conservation and Development Commission (BCDC) is dedicated to the protection and enhancement of San Francisco Bay and toe the encouragement of the Bay's responsible use. The members of 27-member Commission are local, elected government officials, public appointees of the governor and the legislature and representatives of state and federal agencies. BCDC has been successful in stopping the shrinkage of the Bay and dramatically increased public access to the Bay's shoreline and waters. Pursuant to its authority under the McAteer-Petris Act, the Commission regulates development in the Bay and within the first 100-feet inland of the shoreline, evaluating proposals for consistency with the provision of the Act, and the Commission's San Francisco Bay Plan. The Commission also participates in regional partnerships, including the San Francisco Bay Trail Project to advance its mission of improving public access to the San Francisco Bay and its shoreline. |
